ABOUT OUR ACADEMY
Building Foundations Learning Academy (BFLA) is a private, minority-owned, inner-city childcare center dedicated to educating Atlanta’s 21st-century learners. Opened since 2008, the center has been preparing local youth to become future leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators and community servants both home and abroad.
The academy is designed to take young minds’ neighborhood experiences and transform them into fun, relatable lessons about worlds outside of their norm with the guidance of certified educators. Providing Quality Rated childcare, BFLA’s highly rated programs and customized curriculum caters to gifted to special needs students.
While staying aligned with the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards, the academy also includes opportunities for toddlers to teenagers to engage in extracurricular activities that explore science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics — better known as STEAM fields. Additionally, BFLA offers special programs like violin, Zumba, gardening, taekwondo, Spanish and financial workshops to develop students holistically and culturally.
ABOUT OUR SERVICES
Children as young as 6 weeks are nurtured by our caring staff. Our goal is to make them feel as comfortable as they do at home.
Our infants have their own crib that is sanitized throughout the day and we change the sheets each day as cleanliness is our top priority.
Our infants explore and develop in safe play areas and the toys they use are thoroughly sanitized before they are placed back in the play area. The staff's watchful eyes make sure they are safe and sound during their stay.
We incorporate the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards to build out the infant lesson plans to ensure they are meeting all of their developmental milestones.
Every day is an adventure in the toddler room. From group play to learning to cooperate with each other, this is a time when children hit their stride, begin to discover who they are and really thrive. Our skilled teachers help toddlers grasp basic concepts and learning lessons while using the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards.
This also is the time that a child's independence really starts to flourish. Our skilled staff teaches proper hand washing and toileting hygiene. Alongside those skills, our toddler teachers also teach our tots to put toys in a germ bin once they have finished playing with them so that they can be cleaned before the next child uses them. It is never too early to teach the importance of proper sanitation, especially with our new normal navigating through COVID-19.
Our preschool children's experience includes exciting classroom lessons, personalized homework materials and extracurricular activities. This age group learns advanced techniques to ensure they're kindergarten-ready.
Our preschool curriculum is a combination of the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards, and the Mother Goose curriculum. Our experienced preschool teachers pride themselves on teaching early reading skills, language and fine motor development. We conduct assessments regularly to ensure that our preschoolers are hitting all of their academic, physical and social/emotional milestones.
As our preschoolers become more autonomous, we encourage more detailed self-help skills.
As a before and after school provider as well as school out program, we reinforce the skills that our schoolers learn throughout the day. When school is out, we have a blast with a variety of cultural and educational experiences. We transport to and from schools in our community.
VIRTUAL SCHOOL AID
We are assessing options of how we can support the families in our community with virtual school assistance. If you are in need of assistance with your child's virtual learning, please contact our center through email or phone. We will update our site once we have gathered enough information to map out a plan of action.
"Wouldn't take my munchkins anywhere else.
The love, learning, individual time and devotion will never be matched anywhere else, except maybe at home. Ms. Rhonda and the staff are wonderful.
Ms. Rhonda is a no nonsense business owner who truly found her calling.
If you ever have the pleasure to meet her 2 boys, you will know what I speak of. Her mother helps several times a week, she is just so sweet, but the kiddos know she means business in a loving way. It's easy to see the love of children has been passed down from 2 these women. What my munchkins have learned while with Ms. Rhonda is spectacular. They are excited to go to "school" every day and even more excited to share what they have learned."

"I am extremely proud of this facility because of the quality of care given to the children. It is a learning environment and gives the children, in their care ,a chance to have a wonderful beginning. Their experiences and tutelage is what educators appreciate because they are prepared for kindergarten. Good Pre-k. is absolutely vital to the success of a child's school experience."
